This magazine is a supplemental magazine to a larger collaborative magazine entitled “The Classroom of the Future.” Each student was provided the same project brief: design a small magazine that epitomizes your interpretation—either real or imagined—of educational spaces and/or ideologies of the future. My concept and epigram for the whole issue—“ANTI is the Future”—embodies a new and very paradoxical way of approaching the classroom(s) of the future.
To articulate my concept, I developed a fictional character by the name of Tobias, a young man in high school who is the entrepreneur of the “Anti-Futurist Club.” After the introductory portions of the magazine, the nostalgic life of Tobias and his Anti-Futurist Club are authenticated by a series of illustrations, photographs and assuring typographic verbiage that chronicle the “Anti-futurist” state of mind.
