Peter Seitz: Designing a Life
This book celebrates the pioneering work and contributions (on both a professional and academic level) of Peter Seitz, a Minneapolis-based graphic designer from the 1960s and on through the 1990s. More specifically, the book serves as a historical account of Seitz’s influence on the tradition of modern design in Minneapolis and of his impact upon generations of designers during his thirty years as a professor at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

The written portion of the book includes interviews with Seitz as well as with many of his colleagues, a chronology, and two in-depth essays which all help to map connections and give context to the work shown in the plates section of the book. The collection of work represents Seitz’s academic projects from the Hochschule für Gestaltung Ulm and Yale University, his timeless design for the Walker Art Center and the Guthrie Theater and his professional work under the many studios he founded including the multi-disciplinary studio InterDesign Inc.
